02/January/2013 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 12-00030 – A kitchen fire damaged a home at 275 Meadowlake Drive in the Hendersonville Community this morning 02-Janaury. At 07:25, Fire-Rescue was notified of the dwelling fire reporting a canine was still in the residence. Engine 8 arrived to find smoke coming from the eaves and several windows of the singlewide mobile home and flames visible from a vent in the area of the kitchen. Firefighters deployed one 1-3/4 handline to the rear of the structure and made entry through the back door. They quickly knocked down the fire which was contained to the area of the kitchen around the stove and cabinets. Firefighters searched for ten minutes before locating the small dog under a bed in the master bedroom. The dog did not appear to have suffered any injuries. PPV fans were used to clear the smoke from the building. The kitchen suffered substantial damage. The fire appears to have started in the area of a small appliance on the countertop. The Charleston Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the man who was living in the home.

Engine 1, Engine 8, Tender 1, Tender 8, Tender 25, Medic 1, Battalion 1, Car 109, Car 111 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Dan Barb served as Incident Commander.
