05-06-2012 / Traumatic injury with Air Evacuation / “C” Shift

Incident # 12-002462 – An adult male suffered multiple traumatic injuries as the result of a possible assault, Sunday evening 6-May. At 20:42, Medic 9 was dispatched to the 11000 block of Round O Road for a man lying face down, unconscious in the roadway. Shortly after arrival, Firefighter-Paramedics requested additional personnel and a medical helicopter to respond. They continued treating the patient until a driver arrived. Other crewmembers established a landing zone in the 12000 block of Round O Road for Lifenet 4. The patient was loaded into Medic 9, then transported a mile to meet with the helicopter. He was flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

Engine 9, Medic 9, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Battalion Chief Dan Barb served as Incident Commander.
