12-09-2011 – Children’s Christmas

On Friday, December 9, a Children’s Christmas Party was held at Station 19 for all department members (career and volunteer), the ED and LifeNet staffs.  The event was coordinated by Robin Sheffield (wife of Fire Marshal Richard Sheffield) with assistance from Meagan O’Quinn (wife of Engineer Andy O’Quinn) and Kelly Banks (wife of Fire Marshal Mikey Banks). Special thanks also to Ashley Holmes (wife of FF Joseph Holmes) who provided wonderful cupcakes for the party.

The event was centered around the true meaning of Christmas, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.  Everyone celebrated with birthday cupcakes and a puppet show.  Also the kids enjoyed a jump castle (which was inside Station 19’s bay), Karaoke, a fishing game, musical chairs, face painting, a piñata and roasted marshmallows.  Santa also made an appearance to the delight of all of the children present.

There was approximately 30 children in attendance ranging in ages from a few weeks old to 7 y/o.  Mrs. Sheffield thought that the event was a huge success and is looking forward to next year. The event was funded through donations.
