10/05/2011 – Structure Fire – “B” Shift

Incident # 11-05401 – An unattended yard debris fire burned away from its containment pit reaching a nearby mobile home Wednesday afternoon 5-October at 14:31. Engine 6, who was in the area when the fire was dispatched, arrived within several minutes. Firefighters found the doublewide mobile home completely destroyed, with the roof already laying on the frame. Bystanders had extended a garden hose across the street in an effort to fight the fire. Engine 6 deployed two 1-3/4 handlines to the building to extinguish the remaining structure. Once tenders arrived, a deck gun was also used to penetrate the remaining pile of rubble.  The home was being remodeled, so no one was living in the residence. Crews were on the scene for 1-1/2 hours. The SC Forestry Commission is investigating the fire.

Engine 6, Engine 22, Tender 1, Tender 6, Tender 8, Tender 22, Battalion 1, Car 12,  Car 110 and Car 118 responded. Captain Scott Feather served as Incident Commander.
