06/14/2011 – Triple Shooting Incident – “C” Shift              

Incident # 11-03267 – Multiple units responded to a shooting incident at 22 Klein Street, the County Detention Center at 12:30 Tuesday afternoon 14-June. Walterboro and County Law Enforcement are still investigating the incident which has been labeled as a domestic dispute. Medic 1 was dispatched to the sally port at the rear of the jail reporting three people shot. Medic 19 was then assigned to the response. While enroute, Detention Officers reported a fourth person was injured adding Medic 26. Car 111 and Battalion 1 arrived to find three adult males with GSWs and one female with several minor lacerations received from glass cuts. The four had been in a vehicle that was being chased through town as the driver of a second vehicle shot at them. They reportedly sought refuge at the jail, however the perpetrator followed them behind the facility and continued to shoot. One passenger received a gunshot wound to the neck, while the other two men were each struck in the legs. All four patients were treated at the scene, then transported to Colleton Medical Center. Walterboro Officers apprehended the shooter at the intersection of North Jefferies and Robertson Blvd.

The patient with the neck wound was later flown from the ED by Lifenet 3 to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston.

Medic 1, Medic 19, Medic 26, Car 110 and Car 111 responded. Battalion Chief Dan Barb served as Incident Commander.
