05/10/2011 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

Incident # 11-02624 – Engine 31 made a quick knock down on a two car garage fire Tuesday night 10-May. Firefighters were sent to 14436 Lowcountry Highway at 21:36 for a report of several buildings on fire. Engine 31 arrived in less than 5 minutes to find a two car garage behind the residence well involved. Firefighters hit the fire with the deck gun and deployed one 1-3/4 handline. The fire was under control in approximately 15 minutes, with overhaul lasting another 30 minutes. Several small LP tanks were leaking due to fire damage to the valves. They were removed from the building and allowed to bleed down in safe area of the yard. A booster line was later used during overhaul. The fire also damaged some personal property  behind the building and burn several sections of a wooden fence. Most items inside the garage were destroyed or damage by the fire. The building suffered heavy damage. Units remained on the scene for an hour. The cause of the fire is under investigation.  

 

Engine 8, Engine 10, Engine 18, Engine 31, Tender 4, Tender 8, Tender 15, Tender 17, Tender 18, Tender 29, Medic 18, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Captain Richard Breland served as Incident Commander.
