Stations 9 and 19 responded to a two vehicle MVC on Cottageville Hwy at the intersection of Burr Hill Road Friday afternoon 23-July at 1718. According to witnesses, a southbound Ford Expedition turned into the path of a northbound UPS delivery truck. The Expedition was thrown to the right hand shoulder of Burr Hill Road injuring several people in the SUV. The UPS Driver was wearing a seatbelt and only received minor injuries despite heavy damage to his truck. He denied ambulance transport to the hospital. Firefighter-Paramedics found an unconscious 18 year old female in the SUV and requested a second ambulance for the other adult patient and medical helicopter for the 18 year old. She was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to the field at Cottageville Elementary School to meet with the helicopter. Omniflight-Savannah responded and flew the patient to MUSC in Charleston. The other woman was transported to Colleton Medical Center by Medic 19. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 9, Medic 9, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic David Goins served as Incident Commander. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton handled the Landing Zone.
