3/05/2010

Stations 1, 9, 19 and 26 along with Walterboro Public Safety crews responded to a three vehicle MVC at the intersection of Robertson Blvd and Colleton Loop Friday afternoon, 5-March at 1422. The accident originally had reported entrapment, however that was not the case. Witnesses noted a pickup truck was struck in the rear end while making a turn onto Colleton Loop, which caused the vehicle to overturn. The truck rolled over onto a stopped car at the intersection. The other vehicle went off the roadway and struck a tree. Several people were transported with full C-spine precautions to Colleton Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. All injured parties were wearing seatbelts. Traffic on Robertson Blvd was detoured for about 45 minutes until the vehicles could be removed from the scene.

Engine 1, Medic 9, Medic 19, Medic 26, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Walterboro Engine 1 and Walterboro Engine 2 responded. Battalion Chief Richard Sheffield served as Incident Commander.
