Stations 1, 19 and 27 responded to a fatal high speed MVC in the 800 block of Langdale Road at 05:29 AM, 25-November. The late model Chevrolet pickup truck failed to negotiate a curve, went off of the road into the ditch and struck several trees. The extended cab truck received heavy damage. None of the three adult occupants were wearing seatbelts. The male driver and a female rear passenger were both killed in the collision. The front seat passenger was partially ejected from the vehicle, but the lower portion of his body was trapped in the wreckage. Firefighter-Paramedics worked for nearly an hour using hydraulic rescue tools to free the man. He received emergency medical treatment for his injuries and hypothermia during the extrication process. He was transported by Fire-Rescue to a nearby field where the Meducare helicopter landed. He received further treatment prior to being flown in critical condition to the Medical University Trauma Center in Charleston.
 
Evidence at the scene and a witness statement indicated the accident possibility occurred a little after 10:00 PM Monday night. The accident was not discovered on the dark rural road until around 5:30 AM Tuesday. The SC
Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
 
Engine 19, Medic 19, Medic 27, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 17, and Truck 111 responded. Battalion Chief Rich Ellis served as Incident Commander.
