Stations 1, 19 and 27 responded to a fatal MVC in the 2900 block of Robertson Blvd. at 0144 Sunday morning 28-September. A northbound 2003 Suburban, traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control while attempting to pass another northbound vehicle. The Suburban flipped over multiple times after leaving the roadway and crossed the entire parking lot of Smith's Backhoe Service, coming to rest approximately 115 yards from where it first left the roadway. The 23 year old driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He died instantly from massive trauma injuries.
 
Firefighter-Paramedics from Medic 27 were on the scene within minutes and pronounced the man dead at the scene. The Coroner's Office was notified and County Coroner Richard Harvey responded to the scene. Engine 19 and Rescue 1 provided lighting to illuminate the scene to assist Highway Patrol Troopers and the Coroner's Office conduct their investigation. SCHP will determine if alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.
 
Robertson Blvd. was closed between Hampton Street and Poplar Street for 2-1/2 hours. 
 
Engine 19, Rescue 1, Medic 27, Battalion 1 and Truck 12 responded. Battalion Chief Ellis served as Incident Commander.
