Colleton County Fire-Rescue's Explorer Post (# 661) was organized in the Fall of 2007. Our post is affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America and follows their strict guidelines. Explorers are ages 15 through 17 and are allowed to complete basic firefighting courses through the South Carolina Fire Academy and Emergency Medical Technician-Basic through South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. The purpose of the Explorer Program is to guide those interested in a fire-rescue career. |
Meetings

Explorer meetings are scheduled for the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 19:00 hours (7:00 PM) at Station 19. If you are interested in becoming a Colleton County Fire-Rescue Explorer, contact one of the personnel listed above for more information. |

Requirements
Colleton County Fire-Rescue Explorers must:
Complete a State Law Enforcement Division Background Check
Attend Volunteer Orientation
Be enrolled in school and maintain a "C" average or 2.0 grade point average
Maintain the positive projected image of Colleton County Fire-Rescue
Not exceed two unexcused absences from training within a calendar year
Have written permission from parent/guardian
Colleton County Fire-Rescue Explorers can:
Work along side other Colleton County Fire-Rescue personnel
Respond on fire apparatus to emergency incidents
Participate in Fire-Rescue training
Participate in support roles on the fire ground
Gain leadership experience and critical decision making skills
Colleton County Fire-Rescue Explorers are not permitted to:
Enter burning buildings
Take exception to traffic laws while responding to emergency incidents in their privately owned vehicles
Drive Fire-Rescue Apparatus
Install emergency lights or sirens on their personal vehicles
