19/April/2024 - MVC with Entrapment - "A" Shift

Incident # 24-03096 - An adult and a juvenile were injured in a single vehicle, high speed MVC in the 4500 block of Green Pond Hwy. (SC Hwy 303) Friday afternoon 19-April at 16:21. A northbound Nissan Altima crossed into the southbound ditch, struck a driveway culvert and became airborne. The passenger car struck a large pine tree approx. 15 feet off of the ground, then fell back into the ditch behind a guardrail. The adult female driver was trapped in the wreckage. A 15 yr old female passenger suffered traumatic injuries but was able to exit the vehicle on her own. Sheriff's Deputies arrived first and began providing aid to the injured. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived a short time later and used Holmatro Rescue Tools to extricate the driver. Both patients were transported to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Traffic on Green Pond Hwy was blocked for approximately 45 minutes. 

Engine 1, Medic 6, Medic 26, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 107, Car 111 and Car 116 responded. Captain Bryan Eadon served as Incident Commander.
