20/September/2017 – MVC with Air Evac – “A” Shift 

Incident # 17-06557 – Two adult females were injured in a two car MVC in the 1500 block of Robertson Blvd. Wednesday evening 20-September at 22:23. A west bound Honda Accord was passing a car on a curve and collided with an east bound Chevrolet Impala. Both vehicles were traveling at a high rate of speed and sustained heavy damage in the collision. The driver of the Accord received non-life threatening injuries and was walking around the accident scene, however the driver of the Impala received multiple traumatic injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics from Medic 26 quickly extricated the woman and began treating her injuries. A second ambulance was requested and a medical helicopter was placed on standby at Colleton Medical Center. Medic 26 transported the woman emergent to the helipad at CMC with additional personnel on board to assist with patient care, She was transferred her to the Flight Crew upon arrival at the helipad. C.A.R.E. Flight flew the patient to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. Medic 13 transported the driver of the Accord to CMC. Robertson Blvd was block for over an hour until the accident could be cleared. Walterboro Police and Sheriff’s Deputies detoured traffic. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 19, Medic 13, Medic 19, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn served as Incident Commander.
