29/July/2017 – Auto Pedestrian MVC – “A’ Shift

Incident # 17-05224 – A 56 year old female was critically injured in a hit and run accident in the 300 block of Francis Street Saturday morning 29-July. At 04:04 a passerby reported a person down in the street. Law Enforcement officers arrived minutes later to find the woman unconscious and bleeding. Evidence at the scene indicated she was struck by a car. Firefighter-Paramedics on Medic 19 began treating her for multiple traumatic injuries and a head injury. They called for additional units and alerted the C.A.R.E. Flight helicopter at CMC. Crews quickly immobilized her, splinted several fractures, established IVs and transported emergent with additional personnel on board to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with the Flight crew. The patient’s airway was secured prior to the flight, then the woman was flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The Walterboro Police Dept. is investigating the accident. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to call Investigators at 843-549-1811.
