15/September/2016 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 16-06093 – Firefighters saved a large mobile home Thursday evening 15-September at 201 Mallard Street. At 21:32, the homeowner called 9-1-1 to report smoke coming from her roof. Battalion 1 arrived to find heavy smoke conditions coming from the interior of the 100’ x 30’ doublewide mobile home. All occupants had safely exited the building. Engine 26’s crew entered the building with one 1-3/4 handline and located the fire in a back bedroom near the center of the structure. The room was well involved, but the door was closed which contained most of the flames in the room of origin. Firefighter-Paramedics quickly extinguished the fire and prevented any extension into the attic space or remainder of the home. The bedroom suffered heavy damage, but the rest of the home only had smoke damage, so most personal items were saved. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Water supply was handled with Tenders.

Engine 19, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 1, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.
