22/August/2016 – Industrial Rescue – “C” Shift

Incident # 16-05516 – An adult male received injuries to his arm after he was caught between two rollers at an industrial plant on Industrial Road Monday 22-August at 16:17. The man’s arm was pinched between large rollers. Co-workers used a large steel bar to relieve pressure on his extremity and assisted firefighters during the incident. Firefighter-Paramedics carried a large amount of equipment into the plant. They used Holmatro Hydraulic tools, Holmatro High Pressure Air Bags and hand tools to disassemble and displace portions of the machine. The tight confines provided little to room to work. The man was treated during the hour and half long extrication which included pain medications. LifeNet 4 responded to the scene and stood by until the extrication was complete. The man was flown by the medical helicopter to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical in Summerville.

Engine 19, Medic 19, Medic 26, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 12, Car 105, Car 118, Car 119 responded. Deputy Chief David Greene served as Incident Commander.
