04/June/2016 – Fatal Shooting Incident – “A” Shift

Incident # 16-03442 and 16-03443 – Two adult males were shot, one fatally, at an incident that occurred at the drive through of a McDonalds Restaurant located at 1404 Sniders Hwy. in Walterboro, Saturday morning 04-June. At 03:15, 9-1-1 received reports of a person shot in the parking lot of the Quality Inn located at 1286 Sniders Highway. A Walterboro Police Officer responding to the incident also found an adult male lying unconscious in the parking lot of the McDonald’s Restaurant located in front of the motel. The man suffered from multiple gunshot wounds and was not breathing. The Police Officer and a Sheriff’s Deputy began performing CPR on the man and assisted with chest compressions after Firefighter-Paramedics from Medic 1, Battalion 1 and Car 12 arrived to continue advanced life support procedures. The man was rapidly transported to Colleton Medical Center. He did not survive his injuries. Fire-Rescue Medic 26, Engine 1 and Car 118 responded to the second victim at Quality Inn. He also suffered multiple life threatening gunshot wounds and was rapidly transported by Fire-Rescue Medic 26 to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical in Summerville. Additional Firefighter-Paramedics assisted with his care during transport. A third man was transported from the scene to CMC in Medic 19 due to a medical problem. The Walterboro Police Department is investigating the incident.  

Engine 1, Medic 1, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn served as Incident Commander.
