05/May/2016 - Tractor Trailer Fire - "A" Shift

Incident 16-02730 - A tractor trailer transporting passenger vehicles was severely damaged early Thursday morning 05-May.  At 03:58, Fire-Rescue was notified of the incident at the 56 mile marker Interstate 95 southbound.  Engine 26 arrived seven minutes later to find the cab of the tractor trailer fully involved and that the fire had spread to several of the vehicles.  Two 1.75" handlines were deployed.  Station 1 was requested to assist by providing manpower and a tender.  Units were on scene for almost three hours and there were no injuries.  The tractor trailer was destroyed and three vehicles suffered major damage.  Two vehicles suffered moderate damage, but firefighters were able to save three vehicles that sustained only minor damage.

Engine 26, Medic 26, Tender 26, Tender 1, Tender 19, Car 118, and Battalion 1 responded.  Battalion Chief Scott Feather served as Incident Commander.
