16/February/2015 – Structure Fire – “B” Shift

Incident # 15-00875 – A Peaceful Lane home was heavily damaged by an afternoon fire Monday 16-February. At 14:03, 9-1-1 Operators were notified of the incident by a neighbor. Engine 31 arrived quickly and found a singlewide mobile with an one room addition approximately 50% involved. Firefighters used a deck gun to knock down the bulk of the fire from the exterior, then deployed two 1-3/4 handlines to extinguish the remaining interior fire. Crews treated a 25 year old male for several non-life threatening burns and lacerations he received while attempting to rescue a dog from the burning structure. The man was transported by Medic 13 to Colleton Medical Center. Firefighter-Paramedics spent approximately 25 minutes extinguishing the fire and were on the scene for 2-1/2 hours. The interior of the home was gutted, with the family losing most of their belongings. An adult pit bull perished in the fire. Firefighter Explorers buried the animal in the backyard. The cause of the fire appears to have been an electrical problem in the main circuit panel. The fire spread quickly from the area of the panel throughout the singlewide mobile home. Water supply was conducted with a Tender shuttle.

Engine 10, Engine 18, Engine 31, Tender 1, Tender 4, Tender 13, Tender 15, Tender 18, Medic 1, Medic 13, Medic 18, Battalion 1 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
